My Call to India (or return to homepage)

The call to India was quite a surprise even though since I was a little girl I dreamed of being a missionary. One day at church in 1986, when I was watching slides of children actually sleeping on the dirty roads of India, eating out of garbage cans just to stay alive with no one to love or care for them, I began crying profusely. I thought to myself, what can “I” do? I can’t help all those children because we are very ordinary people. Then I thought to myself when the crying stopped – I can pray about it, so I began. After a while of praying, every time I went to pray I would see the faces of the little brown children with their big brown eyes looking right inside of me saying “help” with their eyes. So I began asking the Lord what I should do, and after some time, He said to begin getting sponsors for them. I called 20 friends of mine and told them my plan to take these children off the street and put them in a loving home. They each gave me $20 per child. I went to India with a church group and actually helped take them off the streets and put them in a home - yes, with that little of money. We helped give them their first clean well water bath and helped put their new clean clothes on. That was in 1987 and the same amount per child has been successful in changing their lives forever for the good. The ministry then grew to spreading the gospel which became the most important part of our ministry. Then God had us blessing blind children, slum and village people, widows, lepers and pastors by building wells and churches. Following God's path for us, we are truly feeding the hearts and stomachs of children.

My Family

I have been happily married to Glen for 57 years and have been blessed with 6 children who have 20 children altogether (our grandchildren) who have 8 children (our great grandchildren) and 2 more great grandbabies on the way. I met Glen as a teenager and we married right after I graduated. Glen had accepted Jesus into his heart when he was young but I hadn’t till I was 31 years old. God changed both of our lives at that time and we began to serve him joyfully while raising our big family. Our oldest son went to be with our Lord Jesus Oct 2nd, 2008, peacefully in his sleep. He worked very hard and his body and heart was just worn out. This was a great loss and shock to us all. He was such a loving son to us and caring father to his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Although we miss him very much, we have the blessing of knowing where he is.

How We Do It

When we listened to the Lord, we gave everything we had away and moved to India. Glen and I lived there for two years – and we love the Indian people dearly. We have now returned to Texas – but return as often as we can. My husband works refurbishing gym equipment and pays for all expenses not covered by our ministry funds. Glen is also an elder at Grace Community Church in Princeton, Texas, licensed under EFI and tells people about Jesus constantly. It is a joy for both of us to serve God in this way and to pray for the sick and see God heal them. Our life is to bless those God wants blessed – and in our ministry, it's the needy of India. They need to know that there are many people who care about them and want them to grow up in a clean and happy environment. As we continue to follow God's path for us, we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers.
